Desmond is FiveMonths Old!

And SO freakin' cute!

He is such a happy baby.  It seems like an eternity ago (and also just like it was yesterday) when we had to work our butts off to get a smile out of him.  Now he's much more free with the smiles and laughs, and it is wonderful.

Food:  Desmond has finally graduated to taking about 7 or so ounces per feeding and (mostly) keeping it down.  I think you can see how he's fattened up a little bit, mostly thanks to his new appetite.  We still haven't given him any cereal or purees by spoon. That's penciled in on the calendar for 5/1.

Motor Development: Have I mentioned that Desmond basically refuses to roll over?  He has, on a few occasions in the distant past, rolled from stomach to back.  But he doesn't seem all that interested in trying to repeat that feat or to roll from back to front.  He is certainly strong enough to but seems much happier just doing his thing.  He is a GREAT "supported sitter" and has been for a few weeks, probably.  He is well on his way to becoming an unsupported sitter.

Sleep: Dare I say it's starting to get better?  For the last week, maybe, he's been eating at about 11:00 and 3:00, then waking up at about 7:00.  So that's really just ONE middle-of-the-night feeding.  Still longing for him to sleep straight through on a consistent basis.  For now, we'll enjoy this improvement.

Teeth: None, but he is chewing on EVERYTHING.  He's recently discovered Sophie the Giraffe and seems to like her VERY much.

(Speaking of which, he is an absolute champ at reaching for and grabbing objects and putting them into his mouth.  We saw it for the first time on April 4, and he's just gotten better and better ever since.  He is SUCH a smart baby!)

In short, he's not an itty bitty baby anymore.  He's full of personality and movement and chatter. We are enjoying having him around a lot.
