I'll try to remember what things were like 3 weeks ago, but he's really changed a lot in that time (little babies are like that, I guess), so the lines are a bit blurry.
Let's start with his 4 month photo session (which WAS actually conducted on March 24):
Three guesses why he looks a little scared in this picture.
Yep. It's because big brother is on the prowl.
Desmond's Bear, Desmond, Demonjello, and Dexter
finally, a minute alone
Now for the critical info:
Smiles: He has a ton of them! A lot of the smiling is Dexter and Desmond making googly eyes at each other. I hope they stay BFFs for ever.
Laughs: These are increasingly frequent but no less exciting each time. SO freaking cute. You never can tell what's going to make him laugh. Sometimes it's a goofy noise. A smile. A tickle. A toy. A song. You name it. Except the next time you try that thing, he won't laugh at it. He always keeps us guessing.
Teeth: None yet. No shockers there.
Food: We're consistently offering him 6-7 ounces at a time. Sometimes he takes the whole thing. Usually, it's more like 5 ounces (sometimes as little as 2, though). He's also spitting up an awful lot lately, so it's tough to tell how much he's keeping down. Poor baby.
In other food news, we haven't officially started him on cereal or purees yet. He's had a little bit mixed into his bottles to try to help him stay full, but I don't know how effective that's been. Hopefully we'll get to this soon so he can get past the cereal stage and start enjoying vegetables and fruit, too.
Sleep: Have I told you that he slept through the night once? I think it was March 10 - I wrote it down somewhere. Then he did it again 2 nights later. And we haven't seen it since. The pediatrician says we need to get him to bed earlier. Like 6:30. Which, in our house, is dinnertime. It's also hard to get a baby bathed, read to, fed, and put to bed while a toddler is running around screaming with excitement and decorating the walls with dry erase marker. So, Desmond goes to bed at about 9 and wakes up to eat at about 12, 3, and 6 (give or take an hour on each of those).
Clothes: Desmond continues to outgrow stuff every day. We've started to cycle in his summer clothes, mostly in sizes 6 and 9m, but a few smaller 12m outfits are working out OK. Not surprisingly, length is the biggest issue. He is one long-torsoed baby.
So that's mostly it. He's so much fun and is growing up WAY too fast, so we're sucking up as much baby time as we can.
Here's to more timely documentation next month (er, next week).
