Desmond is Seven Months (and three weeks) Old!

First, let me tell you - if you thought being six months old was tiring, just try being SEVEN months old! Phew!

Eventually, he woke up and let us take his picture.

I think Demonjello is officially outgrown.

"And since I'm bigger than you, Demonjello, I'm going to EAT YOUR HEAD!"

Nom nom nom!

Food:  We're pouring him bigger bottles now, but he still isn't big on finishing them.  He'll drink a few ounces, then chill for a few minutes, then drink another ounce, etc.  Occasionally he'll suck a bottle dry, but mostly he just snacks all day.  No, this is not a good habit, but we don't have a lot of energy reserves to try to break it.  Much easier to just make more bottles, you know?  We are making something of an effort to get more purees in him.  He's pretty much eating everything now. He doesn't really love anything, but he doesn't really hate anything, either. I think he's just not a big fan of the whole process.  He doesn't like anything with much texture. Puffs are seriously not happening here.

Motor Development: OK, so I've done it again and failed to write this up until long after the 7 month mark, and Desmond is basically a completely different baby now than he was 3 weeks ago.  At 7 months, he wasn't *quite* a master of the gross motor skills.  He had technically pulled up on June 13 and June 19, but we couldn't be sure it was fully unassisted.  On June 26 (2 days after the 7m mark), there was no questioning it.  Crawling was also officially noted on June 26, and cruising was very soon to follow (like a day or two).

So, while he wasn't quite there at 7m, I think we can pretty safely say he was almost there. (And now, he pretty much hates the fact that he can't walk and run all over the place.)

Fine motor is improving, but it still needs some work. I don't think I can say he's officially mastered the pincer grasp, but we don't have a lot to test it on, since he won't eat puffs.

Sleep: Ugh. Let's just not talk about this.  He doesn't sleep through the night. Not even close.  He wakes up several times, either for a pacifier or for food (usually the former) and has an uncanny knack for waking up the minute Dexter falls asleep.  There will be rejoicing in the streets when Desmond finally sleeps through the night.  Well, first several nights of sleeping, then rejoicing.

Teeth: Two adorable little bottom teeth!  They just come through more and more every day.  What's cuter than a baby with just 2 bottom teeth?  Not much, let me tell you.

Bath: Except for the hair-washing part, bath is one of Desmond's favorite parts of the day.  He gets to splash and chew foam letters and read Bath Time!  For real, you should see this kid's eyes light up when you whip out that book.  Adorable.

Likes: Desmond is still a pretty chill guy, but oh how he loves the baby in the mirror!  That kid is just so cute! And he's always SO excited to see Desmond!  Quite the pair, they are.  He also loves it when his big brother plays with him and laughs with him.  And he likes just about any toy you can chew on (Sophie is usually a hit.)

Dislikes: Desmond doesn't really like being left alone anymore.  He used to play quietly in the living room while we got ready in the morning, but now that makes him sad, so he gets to hang out in the bathroom with us!  He also doesn't like it when his big brother pushes him or pulls his hair. I'd love to say that will stop soon, but I'm not counting on it.
